Kwentong LGSF | Featuring Divine from the City of Navotas

Highly urbanized cities situated along the coastline are often confronted with severe flooding due to their low-lying topography and the inevitable tidal fluctuations. The City of Navotas continues to face this recurring problem, prompting its local government to implement projects under the FY 2022 LGSF-FALGU to complement their existing flood management initiatives.

For Kagawad Divine Jaime Cordevilla of Brgy. Tangos North, the improvement of streets and drainage systems in various areas of the city has been instrumental in mitigating the risk of perennial flooding.

“Napakalaking tulong po [ng pagpapaayos ng drainage] kasi dati, binabaha po rito. Buhat ng pinaginawa po ito, hindi na po bumabaha at naging maayos na po ‘yung daan,” she mentioned.

Looking ahead, Divine anticipates the enhancement of other low-lying areas to further ensure the safety of the local community.
