Taft Avenue, a major road that passes through the cities of Manila, Pasay, and Parañaque, is considered one of the busiest streets in Metro Manila. To promote security, as well as reduce crimes and road accidents, the Pasay City LGU implemented a street lighting project back in 2022

Vicente Landicho Jr., Punong Barangay of Brgy. 33 in Pasay City, believes that the installation of street lights plays a crucial role in reducing accidents and preventing lawless elements from committing crimes against the public.
“Nandiyan ‘yung may matatapilok [at mangangamba sa seguridad nila] kasi madilim. Madalas ‘yan noon, nung madilim pa ‘yung area namin. Pero noong nagkaroon na ng street lights, nawala na ‘yun. Naging maliwanag talaga ‘yung buong kapaligiran,” he explained.

The said street lighting project of the Pasay City LGU under the FY 2022 LGSF-FALGU covers the installation of 102 sets of double-arm street lights and nine (9) ceiling lights on the center island of Taft Avenue, stretching from Pasay-Manila Boundary to A. Arnaiz Avenue (Libertad).

“Siguro po ‘yung ma-maintain ‘yung streetlight [at] mag-roving 'yung mga pulis para sa seguridad ng lungsod—‘yun ang malaking bagay. Maiiwasan ‘yung mga masasamang loob,” Punong Barangay Vicente mentioned.
